On June 17, 2016 Karen Karp & Partners will host the Future of Food Philanthropy Salon, the first in a series of future-oriented food conversations conceived and produced by Karen Karp.
The salon will bring together an intimate group of thought leaders to discuss critical issues facing the food sector, and to explore the evolving role of funders in food systems improvement and outreach.
As a past presenter and moderator of similar events, Karen was inspired to craft her own experience to spark discussion of collaboration, transparency, metrics, the integration of business and social values, and new forms of philanthropy.
“I just wanted to create a truly intimate occasion, where funders and thought leaders could speak freely about their current challenges and aspirations, and hopefully explore ways to work together that might have multiple benefits,” says Karen.
Even with the ever-changing landscape surrounding food issues, funders have been increasingly open to broader thinking around food systems, and have taken fresh leadership roles in shaping the system and asserting their own advocacy.
A main goal of this salon is to share ideas, identify avenues of potential collaboration, and address the emerging challenges facing the food sector.
