Operations Manager, North Dakota: Line Finders, LLC

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager, North Dakota who will have the overall responsibility for delivering the annual growth and profit objectives of the North Dakota region, and the management of the Utility Locate and Hydro-vac teams as well as the North Dakota office. The Operations Manager, North Dakota will lead the business development in the ND region and – in partnership with crew supervisors – be responsible for leading the North Dakota organization with effective leadership, communications and holding employees accountable. Highly effective customer management and success in recruiting, developing and retaining excellent employees are key in delivering and exceeding annual objectives and the overall effectiveness of this position.

As a member of Line Finders’ Leadership Team the Operations Manager, North Dakota will play a critical role in the overall success of the company. The Operations Manager, North Dakota, will report directly to the President and will be based in our North Dakota offices, near Watford City. This position will have three direct reports and be overall responsible for the North Dakota operations currently with 15 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver annual growth and profit objectives for the Utility Locating and Hydro-vac business in North Dakota
  • Effectively manage the direct reports and, in partnership with the teams’ supervisors, the employees of the department
  • Identify key metrics and objectives for the Utility Locate and Hydro-vac teams and manage the accountabilities to deliver the objectives, consistently
  • Maintain positive employee relations and foster open communications
  • Develop new business opportunities, including participating in key customer visits and sales calls
  • In partnership with teams’ supervisors ensure that the crew members have the required training are customer focused, professional, knowledgeable, dependable, detail oriented and team oriented
  • Ensure that Line Finders’ safety policy, quality standards and exceptional service standards are met at all times
  • Actively call on current and prospective customers
  • Actively monitor financial plans against annual plans, forecasts, and year-to-date results
  • Effectively recruit, develop, hold accountable and retain employees
  • Represent the company in a positive manner in the local community
  • Implement actions to ensure objectives are achieved
  • Assist the President with projects in support of the success of the company
  • Ensure that systems are in place to schedule trucks and crews to ensure customer sataisfaction 24/7
  • Lead the effective implementation of the fleet management program
  • Develop and implement documentation and procedures which ensure consistent implementation of work practices
  • Effectively resolve problems
  • Ensure that proper procedures and practices, documentation, training and audits are in place to drive adherence to procedures, leading to consistently improving performance, high quality and customer satisfaction and retention
  • Actively participate in leadership meetings

Requirements:

  • 6-9 years in industrial service management experience with 10 or more employees and with an increasing scope of responsibilities
  • 3-5 years experience in related industrial service business such as utility locating, hydro-vac, underground construction, trucking and fleet management, sewer and water lines, underground utilities
  • 4-7 years of supervisory management experience
  • Highly experienced in management of people finding a balance in development, performance focus, and retention of capable, reliable and customer focused employees.
  • Outstanding track record in business development, growing sales and customer base
  • Excellent influencing, cooperation, and negotiation skills and the ability to use them appropriately
  • Respectful and earning respect and trust through outstanding integrity, dependability and work ethnic.
  • Outstanding judgment, initiative, prioritization and follow-through in a customer-driven environment
  • Hands-on and pro-active
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people at all levels across international cultures
  • Outstanding business acumen, supporting the achievement of organizational objectives on thoughtful, data-driven decision- making
  • Results focused and able to install a culture of flexibility and success
  • Anticipatory and resourceful
  • Effective in data- based decision- making and skilled in translating decisions in action-oriented and consistent implementation steps
  • Strong in project management
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, manage time and hit deadlines with calmness under pressure
  • Thoughtful with strong active listening skills
  • Superior computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
