In 2018, the West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) initiated a partnership with three additional NYC emergency food organizations–New York Common Pantry, Project Hospitality, and St. John’s Bread & Life–and retained KK&P to research, identify, and pilot-test savings opportunities for collective food purchasing. The 6-month pilot initiative achieved savings of nearly 20% across the participating organizations, and also demonstrated the impact of open communication and collaboration among organizations that had not previously worked closely together. Since that time, the group’s success has only grown. Now known as The Roundtable: Allies for Food Access, the coalition has added four new member organizations (Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, Met Council, Part of the Solution, and The Campaign Against Hunger), expanded into advocacy work,
supported each other through the challenges of the Covid pandemic, and continued innovating in strategic purchasing. KK&P leads all facilitation, coordination, and strategy implementation for the Roundtable, and is proud to support the Roundtable’s mission of working together to bring more resources to communities, so none of our neighbors go hungry.
