Karrien Francis has been hired as Chief Human Resources Officer at City Harvest after an extensive search spearheaded by Karen Karp & Partners. Karrien, with extensive experience in HR, recruiting, professional development and diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives, started her position at NYC’s largest food rescue organization on April 27.

In this role, Karrien will lead the HR team in developing and implementing HR strategy. She will also be responsible for highly effective recruiting, retention, performance management, supervisory capacity building, compensation, employee communication and engagement and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

Karrien joins City Harvest after a three-year stint as director of talent and organizational performance at Northwell Health. There, she focused on recruiting, professional development and planning, labor and employee relations, staff engagement, and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for a 5,000-person staff at three Manhattan Hospitals – Lenox Hill, Manhattan Ear, Eye, Nose and Throat and Lenox Greenwich Village. She also served as a business partner for senior leadership.

Prior to her time at Northwell, Karrien served as the director of Human Resources for Jewish Child Care Association from 2014-17. She managed a full HR portfolio for 1,500 staff members at the Brooklyn-based organization. She previously spent seven years with Target Corporation, focusing on recruiting, retention, staff development and succession planning strategies in the Tri-State Area for the major retailer.
